FACT-CHECKING THE ORLANDO MUSEUM BASQUIAT EXHIBIT CATALOGUE: The “Disclaimer” Needs A Disclaimer

--

Among the Basquiat-related documents provided by Pierce O’Donnell to Aaron De Groft, director of the Orlando Museum of Art, was a “Statement of Authenticity” issued by James Allan Curtis, AKA Diego Cortez.

Cortez, an art curator, was instrumental in the career of Jean-Michel Basquiat.

In 2019, Cortez examined six paintings on behalf of O’ Donnell, their owner.

However, there are no documents affirming this claim made in the exhibition catalogue’s disclaimer.

Here is the Cortez document.
