DEFAULT IS NOT IN OUR STARS, BUT IN OURSELVES: Part 19 — The Wolf Of Washington Avenue (Take A Message From Michael)

“Threats of going public will hurt me, you and the event, so I would have whomever back that down because will not look good.”

In a January 6, 2024 post about Mike Bacigalupo’s fishing tournament swindle, I posed this question:

As it turns out, I have a partial answer…Bacigalupo tried to stick the State Theatre with the $50,000 debt before finally settling on the City of Bay City as his sucker.

Among the documents provided to me today by Bay City Commissioner Ed Clements was an August 10, 2023 email from Major League Fishing’s Sydney Elliott — revealing that Bacigalupo himself sought to have the contract revised.

In an August 8, 2023 email, Bacigalupo requested the $50,000 invoice be issued to the “State Theatre” instead of the “City of Bay City.”

Major League Fishing’s Elliott questioned Bacigalupo’s request “to revise and resend it to what looks like his personal email and make it out to be paid by a theatre”.

It appears no changes were made, as reflected in the November 16, 2023 “Final Notice of Past Due Account” shown below — which was addressed to the “City of Bay City”.

As I revealed in my January 6, 2024 report, a November 21, 2023 Allsopp Wackerly letter advised MLF “that all future billings should be sent to Michael Bacigalupo. In an email from Michael Bacigalupo to Sydney Elliott of Major League Fishing, Mr. Bacigalupo indicated that invoices should be made out to The State Theater, 913 Washington Avenue, Bay City, MI 48708”.

It appears that Bacigalupo used an unnamed “huge grant” (and not “Hugh Grant”) as an excuse for not coughing up the cash owed to both the National Professional Fishing League ($20,000) and Major League Fishing ($50,000).

Later, Bacigalupo airily waved away Clements’ concerns, stating in a September 21, 2023 email that he would “take care of it when I get back from Italy.”

More on this later.
